Absolutely

YouTube recommended “Choke” to me a few years back, and I’ve been obsessed with this band ever since. “Money” came next, on SiriusXM’s Octane channel, probably in 2023, and that sent me through their entire catalog on Apple Music, front to back.

They have the voice, the style, the lyrics and the attitude that keep me coming back. It’s fun, and it’s just good rock music.

The record is about growing up with everybody watching: anxiety, trying to keep your balance, and breaking free from what people expect you to be. These three went viral before they were teenagers, and “Perfect Daughter” is about the feeling that people liked an earlier, more agreeable version of you better. You don’t have to be famous to know that one.

“Ritual” opens the album with anxiety telling you the disaster is right around the corner, so you never get to enjoy the good thing while you have it. “Bite My Tongue” is swallowing what you want to say until you hit a boiling point. “Kerosene” closes it out by setting fire to the old rules and starting over.

“Bruises” is angry. It’s got some attitude. It’s about the marks hard stuff leaves on you, the ones that stick around long after it’s over.

Anton DeLost produced and mixed the album, and he does an excellent job. Everything is crisp and clean, and it still sounds downright dirty with those bass lines, and Pau absolutely banging on the drums.

People have been saying rock is dying for about as long as I’ve been listening to it. The Warning make me excited about the future of rock music.
